Uttan Climbs

  1. Uttan Steep Climb

Location: On the Tardoli Road, Uttan. Towards the end of the road, after the masjid, you come to a small fishing village. The segment starts with a small downhill and then climbs up towards the village at the top.

Rating: Hard – you need to carry momentum built up on the small downhill and be in the right gear to make it to the top without blowing out or popping your Rear Derailleur if you attempt to change to an easier gear on that 20% plus ramp. If you stop then just turn around and attempt it again – it’s quite tough to start pedalling again mid climb, especially if your are clipless.

Road Condition: Decent.

Traffic: Very sparse.

USP: This is perhaps the toughest “short” climb around Bombay. Get there at dawn and enjoy the fantastic sunrise over Vasai Creek.

2. Uttan Village Road Climb

Location: The segment starts just after the Police Check post on the Uttan – Gorai Road.

Rating: Easy to moderate. The first 500 – 600 meters is a relatively hard climb before easing out for the last part.

Road Condition: Very Good.

Traffic: Sparse.

USP: A good climb for VO2 efforts and repeats on good roads.
